About the Candidate
During my tenure, the board has had many accomplishments:
We have hired a new superintendent with an excellent vision for our district to become a champion district.
We have developed positive and productive working relationships with stakeholders from the Grand Island School community including members of the Board of Education, faculty, staff, families, students, community partners, and the Superintendent.
We continue to foster strong relationships with community partners (such as Town Government, Town Police, Civic Organizations and local businesses)
We implemented the Veterans tax exemption.
We completed extensive capital projects that included new security entrances for the MS and HS, a multi-sport synthetic complex, and renovations at each school building.
We continue to monitor all class sizes and are committed to smaller class sizes at all of our buildings.
We have increased our graduation rate from 87% in the 2015-2016 school year to 96% in the 2021-2022 school.
We assisted in the development and monitoring of a five-year strategic plan for the district.
We made the curricular alignment between Kaegebein and Huth Road Elementary Schools a priority through work with district leaders.
We advocated for the expansion of sports teams for students including modified soccer and flag football.
We led in the development of the Family Resource Center to provide needed mental health services throughout the Grand Island Community.
We hired 2 part time SRO’s and just added an additional 2 part time SRO’s for the 2023-2024 school year and are excited to see our program expand. And that’s just to name a few.
